We adopted our daughter 8 mos. ago and expect to finalize soon, God willing. anyway, we ended up going through an agency after months of trying it on our own.We wanted the baby God had planned for us, and in the end we know that she was created just for us!

Anyway, the agency we used had a particularly stellar reputation among birth moms, and we definitely wanted her needs to be taken care of, after all, she was carrying a child that she would soon entrust to us, and call us her parents. The gift she was giving us was so pure and sweet and done with so much strength, maturity and love, that we wanted to mirror our deep heart felt gratitude back to her for the precious gift she was giving us, her baby, now our daughter, and yes, even her own self. God brought us together over an internet lead, which led to a meeting and that lead to a match meeting with our birth mom. (Birth dad not in the picture).` We were all nervous, but it went well and we walked away secure as we are sure she did.

In a matter of fact, she said meeting us sealed it for her. She chose a semi open adoption plan, and wanted us to be able to be at appointents as we wanted to be, and the birthing was untouched as it needed to be her choice, which she ultimately chose to have us there, and we were so very gld because we were the first to hold and feed our baby girl, and we were able to be there for our dear birth mom and help meet her needs and share with her on this special day that she brought our daughter into this world! It was a beautiful time that we anticipate sharing with our daughter when the time is right, though we plan to plant seeds about her adoption from the beginning.

We practice now. Anyway, God worked out all the details and moved obstacles out of the way, as He is great! We update our baby's birth mom with letters of her progress, and include personal notes about what she has accomplished most recently, as well as highlights about what we have done most recently as a family. We also include family pictures of the three of us, so she can see that she is safe, happy, and so very loved. We know this brings great comfort to her.

We also pray for her often, though I wish I would do it more often. Our birth mom is strong and courageous, and she did a great thing for her baby girl, as she wanted her to have two parents who could provide for her and who were ready to parent. She said she knew she could have children one day when it was right and she was ready, and did not want the baby to suffer just because she could not care for her.She was steadfast & level headed and knew no matter what this was the right thing. I truly believe her conviction and character were the most important at that time because I know family members flew in and came in to see the baby and her and I witnessed pressure that I am sure intensified when we were not in the room, but we never doubted her and the Lord's plan for us, it was just that clear. The hardest challenge is the intensity picks up as the finalization nears, and I am thankful to be reminded that I need to trust in Him for all things. All in all, it has been absolutely mind boggling! In a good way! We are so in love with our daughter as she is with us and we are absolutely attached and there is no doubt that she is attached to us and shows preference for us. My husband is a great dad, he is so helpful and takes his parenting role seriously. He often gets up with her and is great about sharing the joys and responsibilities of parenting. It is stressful at times but the end result is a baby to love and share your lives with, and for that we could not be more greatful!

Blessings to all and best wishes to those who have adopted and those preparing to adopt!
