Reunited
I am 1 of 5 brothers and a sister. After obtaining birth and death records I confirmed what I had known for about 8 years. My story has a very strange twist to it that most might find hard to believe.
I am the 2nd son born to Marl and Mary Brensinger, Hamburg, PA and was placed for adoption through the Children's Aide Society of Philadelphia, PA and adopted in Aug. 1950 through the County Court House in Norristown, PA.
Tracking down much of the information was difficult at best since the Children's Aide Society in Philadelphia closed years ago and the hospital where I was born, Salvation Army Hospital, Philadelphia, PA has also been closed for years.
In any event, I have a cousin and uncle who I have been speaking with and we will be getting together for dinner within the next few weeks. I will update you on how that goes. They are very excited.
Sadly, although my my older brother knows that I am his brother, he and the rest of the family wish I would go away. I suppose after 50+ years it would be difficult for them to finally meet the brother they have never met but were only told stories about. I am fine with this, and I knew going in that I might not be received. My first desire was to find and confirm where I came from to tie up those loose ends of my life.
My adoptive mother is still living and has supported me in my search. She provided me with court papers she had from the adoption with the names and other pertinent information about my birth parents, although limited.
I also have a sister who is adopted and my wife and her 2 brothers were also adopted. Strangely, I am the only one who was all that curious to find my past.
